Cooper Middle School: The Hidden gem of cobb county
In preparation for the Milestones, we are hosting our first annual Race to the Milestones competition via USATestPrep. Students have a folder of assignments in their USATestPrep account filled with assignments to help them prepare for the upcoming Milestones assessment. All of the assignments are set to unlimited attempts until the student has reached a mastery level of 80% or higher. Students may watch videos and read notes in USATestPrep for immediate assistance on lessons in which they struggle before reattempting the questions. The assignments can be completed in any order. Students may check their progress at any time by viewing their mastery bubbles under 7th grade ELA.

This week we are reviewing paired text analysis in preparation for the upcoming MiniTouchstone 3.3.
Homework Students are receiving an article of the week on Tuesday 3/19/18. The homework is due on Friday. Additionally, please ensure that your student is reading at least 30 minutes each night. MiniTouchstone 3.3 Students are taking the paired text analysis minitouchstone 3.3 in class on Thursday 3/21/19. Report Cards Quarter 3 Report Cards will be sent home on Friday 3/22/19. Please see the promotion requirements below to gauge if your student is on track to earn promotion to 8th grade based on his or her grades. Gradebook If you are trying to access your student’s grades vie ParentVue/StudentVue, please make sure that you use the tabs at the top of the screen to navigate to the correct grading period. Monday 3/18/19 is the beginning of Quarter 4 and you may not see grades listed under that tab until the beginning of next week as teachers work to finalize the grades for Quarter 4. Promotion Criteria: 7th Grade Moving to 8th Grade Lexile: RI score of 970 or higher by the end of the 2018-2019 school yeaer GPA: 70 or higher cumulative GPA for the school year (this includes connections and 3rd period) Core Class Grades: You must pass language arts and math with an average of 70 or higher for the year. You also must pass science or social studies with an average of 70 or higher for the year. Homework The homework this week is on USATestPrep. Students have 3 assignments to complete. Gradebook Please make sure that you are regularly checking your student’s grades in each class. If you have questions about a grade, please reach out to that teacher. March 15th is the end of Quarter 3, so students have a limited time to bring up low class grades for this grading period. |
