Quarter 2 reports cards, MI reports, and RI reports will go home with students on Friday 1/11/19. Please contact the subject area teacher with any questions or concerns you have about your student's grades.
We are using the same syllabus as last semester. Please make sure that your student has notebook paper, binder dividers, and writing utensils to use this semester in language arts class. Reading Inventory By the end of the school year, 7th grade students must read at or above a 970 Lexile to earn promotion to 8th grade. The RI report that is going home with students on Friday will let you know your student's current Lexile. It is important that all students read at least 30 minutes each night to maintain and improve their Lexile. OL Classes This week students are reading the article "Island of Sorrow" to further practice determining the central idea of a text. On Friday, students will have a short comprehension quiz over the text. This week, students have a reading log that they should be filling out each night as they are reading. The reading log is due on 1/14/19. Additional copies of the assignment can be found here. Reading Log AC Students (6th Period) Students are presenting their TEDTalk projects in class on Thursday and Friday this week. The top 5 projects based on peer assessment will be selected for potential filming to show on the school's morning announcements. Looking Forward Next week, all language arts classes will begin studying argumentative essay writing. |
