7th Grade ELA
Cooper Middle School: The Hidden gem of cobb county
This week students are taking their final quiz of the semester on Tuesday 12/18/18. This week is also the last week for Quarter 2 grades. Students who are still eligible to turn in work for later credit will conference with Mrs. Hayes or Mrs. Paden individually regarding what they may still turn in for credit. Remember that homework (practice) assignments are not eligible for late credit per the 7th grade late work policy. AC: AC students are working on TEDTalks. Students should have a draft of their script by the end of the week. Students will have the holiday break to refine their script and practice presentations before delivering their presentations the first week of Spring semester. Ethos, Pathos, and Logos PPT Christmas Break There are no specific assignments for the two week Christmas break. Students are reminded to read at least 30 minutes each day. Additionally, AC students are encouraged to spend some time over break practicing their presentations so they are ready when they return.

Reading Inventory Students will take the RI on Wednesday 12/12/818. The RI results will be used to determine participation in Read 180 and other reading interventions at Cooper Middle School. Students need a Lexile of 970 or above by the end of the school year to earn promotion to 8th grade. Grades Please check your student’s grades in ParentVue/StudentVue. If your student has a zero for a classwork/writing assignment that is eligible for late credit, please check with your student to ensure that he/she is completing the assignment to turn in. I have been conferencing with students and reminding them of assignments they are still eligible to turn in for late credit in school, but your student may need a reminder from home as well. Please note that practice assignments are not eligible for late credit per the 2018-2019 7th grade late work policy. The deadline for late work is this Friday 12/14/18. PBIS Rewards Day This Friday is the PBIS Rewards Day for Fall semester. Students will purchase wristbands from their homeroom teacher on Thursday morning for participation in activities on Friday during connections. This year, students may choose from: movie and a popcorn, game room, and open gym. Parent volunteers are appreciated for the event. Please contact the front office if you would like to volunteer with this event. Homework OL: Students need to complete the vocabulary practice assignment they received in class to complete after the RI on Wednesday 12/12/18.
